Landlord’s son butchers tenant’s child at Adankwame

The son of a landlord has allegedly butchered a toddler after he had an altercation with the child’s father who is a tenant in their house.

The suspect, identified as Emmanuel also inflicted machete wounds on the deceased’s father, Obed Asamoah, and sister, Bridget Owusu who are currently battling for their lives at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

The sad incident occurred at Adankwame within the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region on Friday, May 5, 2023.

Narrating the sad incident, the mother of the deceased, Janet Owusua said “My husband had just returned from work when the incident happened, he was carrying my son now deceased, when the suspect confronted him and asked that we pack out of the house.

“Before my husband could reply to him, the suspect cut both the child and his father and began butchering them, my 19-year-old daughter who was at the scene rushed to pick up the little boy who had fallen on the ground after the attack, but she was also butchered in the process.

“I went out in desperation for help but the boy was dead when I arrived at the scene with both my daughter and husband battling for their lives,” she narrated.

She disclosed that all three victims were rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital but the toddler, Samuel Amo was pronounced dead on arrival.

The suspect was said to have gone into hiding after committing the crime but was later arrested by some residents of the area, following a confession to a local pastor.

The suspect is currently in police custody assisting investigations.
