Mohammed Polo plans to sell house to fund football academy in Ghana

Ghana football legend, Mohammed Ahmed “Polo” has revealed that he will sell one of his houses in Lome in the Republic of Benin to help develop his football academy in Ghana.

Polo’s soccer academy has struggled in recent times due to the closure of the Kaneshie Sports Complex where the team use to hold its training sessions.

However, Chief of Odumse, Nene Fiesu Gblie III, has honoured the former Hearts of Oak legend and coach with a 13.17-acre land for the construction of an academy in the community.

The donation is meant to inspire Polo to unearth and develop the potential of the youth to adapt to Ghana’s brand of football.

The land according to Polo will be used to construct two astro turfs, four-storey hostels with 40 rooms, a reception as well as a hostel manager’s office and washrooms.

“I have a house in Lome [Benin], I’m going to sell that house to come and develop Ghana football, this is my passion,” he told Accra-based Radio Gold.

“I’m selling that house in Lome and bring the money here to come and develop Ghana football.

“I have the passion, so I’m selling that house.” Mohammed Polo told Radio Gold Sports.

The project will also include three administration blocks, a conference room, a research centre, a gym, a boardroom and other facilities that will enhance the smooth operation of the academy such as training, marketing and promotion, statistics, counselling and ICT departments, three-storey classroom block, headmaster and assistant headmaster’s offices and staff common rooms.
