Woman allegedly killed and dumped near river
An unidentified woman has been allegedly killed and dumped by unknown assailants at Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region.
According to reports, the woman’s remains were discovered on the river bank in the bush by some residents on Monday, May 1, 2023.
The Manso police have transported the woman’s remains to the mortuary for autopsy and preservation while an investigation has commenced.
An eyewitness recounted that they woke up to find the body in a decomposing state.
The body was lying prostrate, and the panties were removed at the time they traced the pungent smell to the scene.
Information gathered revealed that the deceased came to the area in search of greener pastures in the mining community.
In recent times, murders have become rampant in Ghana, ranging from unknown assailants, security personnel shooting civilians and spousal murders.
This has raised concerns about the security status of the country, causing many to devise ways to protect themselves from falling victim to such circumstances.
It will be recalled that the chiefs and elders of Assin Nseni in the Central Region led by Nana Adjei Okupa have called on the gods of their land, amidst curses, to expose the killer of a 15-year-old pregnant student.
The chief, Nana Adjei Okupa, on Tuesday, April 15, 2023, led the leaders of the community to the riverside to pour libation and beseech the river deity, Asuo Sika, to avenge the death of the young girl and deal ruthlessly with anyone who has a hand in the murder.
It was reported that on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, the deceased, identified as Adwoa Attaa (Kakra), a three-month pregnant teenager, was missing.
The lifeless body of Adwoa Attaa was found with the head cut off after a search by residents.
The perpetrators of the crime left the severed head by the body.
The chief is confident that the river god will expose the killer in similar situations in the past hence their decision to invoke its power.
The chief said while they resort to the spiritual realm to find the killers, the Ghana Police Service should also conduct a thorough investigation to arrest any suspect.
