Three Suspects Remanded Following Robbery Attack on Gold-Buying Shop In Tarkwa

Three suspects have been remanded in police custody following a robbery attack on a gold-buying shop in Akoon-Tarkwa, in the Western Region.

The suspects, Ezekiel Stephen Oghenekaro, Samuel Amoashie, and Fatawu Awudu, were apprehended by police in the bush around Benso and Esuosu townships after the robbery on April 18, 2023.

The suspects, along with three other armed individuals, attacked the gold shop and made away with an unspecified amount of money.

However, the police launched an operation on the gang on the same day of the attack and managed to arrest the three suspects in the bush.

Upon searching the suspects, the police retrieved three motorbikes and a sack filled with an unspecified amount of money, believed to be the proceeds from the robbery.

The suspects were subsequently put before the Tarkwa District Court on April 21, 2023, and have since been remanded into lawful custody.

They are scheduled to reappear in court on May 3, 2023.

The police have disclosed that intelligence operations are currently underway to apprehend the remaining members of the gang involved in the robbery.

The authorities have assured the public of their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens and called on the public to assist in providing information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects.
