Mentally ill man kills brother-in-law in his sleep

A 39-year-old mentally retarded man identified as Selorm Ayi has stabbed his brother-in-law Kofi Donkor to death at Pusupu in  Nkwanta South of the Oti region.

Information gathered revealed that the victim and the deceased were both sleeping in the same room when Ayi committed the crime and after stabbing him, Ayi also struck Kofi Donkor’s head with a pestle which killed him on the spot.

Residents have revealed the suspect has been battling mental illness for some time now, and the deceased tried sending him to a fetish priest for treatment.

After committing the crime, the suspect himself rushed to the Breweniase Police Station to report himself.

Meanwhile, the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the St. Joseph Hospital morgue at Nkwanta.

The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
