Convince your pregnant final year wards to return to school for WASSCE- Headmistress to Parents

The headmistress of St Mary’s Girls Senior High School (SHS) at Konongo in the Asante Akyem Central Municipality of the Ashanti Region, Madam Alice Martha Adjei has called on parents of pregnant students of the school to convince their wards to return to school for the WASSCE examinations.

This follows a disclosure by Madam Adjei that fifteen (15) of her students are heavily pregnant and have stopped reporting to the academic institution for academic work.

The students, according to her include four final-year students, 10 second-year students, and a first-year student.

Some of these students, Madam Adjei noted were happy to share the news of their pregnancy with her while others have shied away.

The headmistress noted that the first-year student reported to school already pregnant and approaching delivery.

The worried headmistress indicated some students were reported sick but eventually they found out it was pregnancy.

The former head of the West Africa Examinations Council, Rev. Sam Nii Nmai Ollennu emphasized there shall be no discrimination during West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and that every student, irrespective of being pregnant or indebted to their schools, shall be allowed to take part in the exams.
