The six persons arrested in connection with the murder of a young soldier, Imoro Sheriff at Ashaiman have been remanded in police custody.
The suspects were arraigned before the Ashaiman District Court on Monday, March 13 after they were arrested between March 9-12, 2023.
A statement by the police said two of the suspects stabbed the victim after he had resisted an attempt by them to snatch his phone.
The soldier, according to the police was attacked at Ashaiman Taifa while he was returning from his female friend’s place at Ashaiman Newtown.
The four others were arrested after they reportedly bought the stolen phone after the attackers bolted with it.
Lawyers for the four who are alleged to have bought the phone, on Monday prayed to the court to grant them bail as they cannot be directly linked to the killing.
But the Prosecutor, Supt. Sylvester Asare told the court presided over by Simon Gaga that granting the accused persons bail will impede investigations as they have no permanent place of abode.
All six suspects were then remanded to reappear before the court on March 27, 2023.
The suspects are Safianu Musah alias Dayorgu, Ibrahim Abdul Rakib, Samuel Tetteh alias Wiper Abubakar Sadick alias Birdman, Yussif Mohammed, and Abdul Gafaru Abdul Karim.
