The Executive Director for the Institute of ICT Professionals Ghana (IIPGH), David Gowu, has stressed on the need for more innovation to bridge the gap between academia and industry with respect to Information, Communication and Technology.

This, he believes, is necessary in the fight against unemployment in the country.

According to him, students should build resilience to effectively manage change and find solutions to new challenges presented by the changing world.

“We are helping these student create an opportunity for industry players to interface with tech job seekers so they can dialogue on how best tech job vacancies can be filled. However, there is the need for these student to be effective and be resilient in what they do”, he said.

Speaking at the fair, Project manager for AFOS/Digicap Ghana Hanna Schlingmann noted that, the Tech Job Fair is key to bridging the unemployment gap in Ghana.

She also urged students to leverage other opportunities presented to them to acquire more skills.

“It’s a good initiative, one of the things I appreciate best about the Tech Job Fair is that, it will give industry players the chance to interact with tech job seekers so they can talk about how best to fill tech job openings. These student should take every opportunity serious”, she stated.

The fair is to provide an enabling environment for young people to access decent jobs, so they benefit from the digital transformation agenda of Ghana
