Former president John Mahama is set to officially launch his bid to lead the opposition National Democratic Congress on Thursday, March 2.
The John Mahama 2023 campaign launch dubbed “Building the Ghana we want together” will be held at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Ho in the Volta Region.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, February 2023, the former president wrote, “Fellow countrymen and women, I will on Thursday March 02, 2023 launch my bid to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the 2024 elections at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Sokode near Ho.
“I invite you to either join me in the Cedi Auditorium at UHAS or watch a livestream of the launch on my Facebook page or YouTube channel from 9.00am,” he added.
Last week, John Mahama picked nomination forms to contest as flagbearer of the NDC ahead of the party’s primaries in May.
The form was picked on his behalf Wednesday, February 22 by Professor Joshua Alabi, a former Rector of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) together with the national chairmen of the various regions.
This was after the Former President declared his intention to contest for the presidency in the 2024 presidential election on Tuesday, February 21.
He made this disclosure when members of the Minority Caucus in Parliament paid him a visit at his office in Cantonment.
The members were at Mr. Mahama’s office to inform him about their decision to endorse his candidature for flagbearer-ship if he announces same.
