Officers from the Abor Police Command have gunned down three suspected armed robbers in a robbery operation at Tsive- Kpotame near Kpadzakope in the Volta Region.
The incident occurred on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at around 1 am.
According to reports, the armed men, numbering seven besieged Tsive-Kpotame and attacked some houses.
The police received the information on time and laid an ambush at the scene in wait for the robbers.
The suspects, sensing danger, opened fire on the Police but were overpowered by the officers, leading to the killing of three of them.
However, an officer, whose name has been withheld, sustained some gunshot wounds and was rushed to the hospital.
The police retrieved some weapons, including a pump action gun, a locally manufactured pistol, and 30 rounds of AA ammunition from the scene.
Meanwhile, the four other suspects are currently on the run.
The assembly member for the area, Mr. Emmanuel Tsifoanya, who confirmed the incident in an interview with GNA and monitored by The Ghana Report, appealed to the Police to immediately bring the others to book.
Meanwhile, the Abor District Police Command is yet to officially comment on the incident.
