280 Residents In Ayensuano Displaced After Rainstorm

Some 280 residents in six farming communities in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region remain homeless after a rainstorm struck on Monday, February 6, 2023, at about 2:00 pm.

The affected communities include; Akokrom, Kwaboanta, Kwaboanta Junction, Onakwase, Fawotirekosie and Docrochiwa.

Several buildings and houses were ripped off, displacing hundreds of residents. The rains have destroyed household items such as electrical appliances and other personal belongings.

The victims were temporally sheltered in church buildings and rooms of friends.

Hundreds of schoolchildren affected by the rainstorm disaster could not go to school.

The Acting District Director of the National Disaster Management Organization ( NADMO), Richard Adu, said the situation is devastating.

However, the organization has no relief items to distribute to the victims.

He said the assessment report had been sent to the Regional office for immediate intervention.
