#FixTheCountry campaigner Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor says his group will continue to match on every major street of the country until a new constitution is promulgated.

Joining dozens in the Northern Region capital of Tamale on Saturday, January 7 for the Zalikpan Pala Pumpono Demonstration, Mr Barker-Vormawor said Ghanaians need to be heard for a new constitution to replace the 1992 Constitution.

He noted that the demonstration in Tamale, also dubbed the #TamaleTogether Demo, is apolitical and brings together well-meaning Ghanaians who are not happy with the system of government under the current constitution.

“The young people are out to save the country,” he told Media General‘s Christopher Amoako.

“We are marching towards freedom. Until all the 30 million people are liberated, we are not done.”

The demonstration is being staged on 2023 Constitution Day as part of the pressure group’s calls for a new constitution “that better addresses social inequality and democratic accountability”.

There was heavy police presence for the march.

Protesters held placards some of which read: ‘As We Speak, Ghana Is Practising Kleptocracy’, ‘Gob3 Without Responsibility Won’t Save Ghana’, ‘New Constitution 4 New Generation’ among others.
