‘Not funny enough’ comment ‘killing’ Ghanaian comedy – Clemento Suarez
Sensational stand-up comedian and actor, Clemento Suarez has expressed worry over how some Ghanaians ‘kill’ the career of comedians even before they start.
According to the actor, the notion that Ghanaian comedians are not funny is what is impeding the career growth of many comedians.
Not many patronize Ghanaian comedy shows with the excuse that Ghanaian comedians are not funny. The claim is that these comedians only pick on people, tribes and ethnic groups to create humor.
In an exclusive interview with The Ghana Report, the comic actor said, the only way stand-up comedians will get better and meet international standards is when their shows and events are patronized and criticisms fairly made.
“Even before the guys start picking up and begin to mount stages, the tag that Ghanaian comedians are not funny is there; it is almost like there was a National publication,” he said.
He emphasized Ghanaian comedy will take Africa by storm in the not too distant future.
“It is just a matter of time; we will get there because the guys are really good,” he said.
