The Ghana Education Service (GES) has postponed the vacation date for public schools from Thursday, December 15, 2022, to Friday, December 16, 2022, to enable Primary Four (P4) pupils to write their National Standardised Test on Friday, December 16, 2022.
In an official letter released by the Ghana Education Service on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, management admonished Regional Directors to communicate the abrupt change of the vacation date to all Metro/Municipal/District Directors of Education to inform Heads of Basic Schools to act accordingly by the new date.
According to the management of the GES, Public Basic Schools are to re-open for the First Term, 2023 Academic Year, on January 10, 2023.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service has indicated that Basic Schools and Senior High Schools are likely to resume the trimester schedule instead of the current semester approach used by the schools.
With the trimester, students or pupils will be spending 12-13 weeks in school, after which they will break for another two separate terms before being promoted to another class.
