Politicians getting away with ‘murder’ – Edem Senanu
Co- Chair of the Citizens Movement Against Corruption (CMaC), Edem Senanu, has alleged that some political actors are getting away with murder because there are no strong institutions to punish them.
According to him, political actors are only interested in playing with the sensibility of Ghanaians hence their lackadaisical attitude towards getting the Special Prosecutor fully functional to fight the ills in the country.
Ghanaians, according to Mr. Senanu, have been taken for granted by politicians for far too long.
He called on civil societies, the media and all well-meaning Ghanaians to support the work of the Special Prosecutor (SP) in the fight against corruption.
“We need to come together to get our politicians to do the right thing, we are been dribbled too much by these politicians, A says this B says that and they are getting away with murder and it is frustrating for many of us” he said.
According to him, it will take civil societies, citizens of conscience and the media working together to ensure that systems and structures prevent politicians and other technocrats from robbing citizens off their resources.
“We need a Martin Amidu to get this done.” he noted.
Edem Senanu said, even though the president made a bold decision by appointing Mr. Amidu as Special Prosecutor, it was clear that other levels of government are not overly committed to the course of the Special Prosecutor.
“I don’t think the levels of commitment we have seen actually suggests to us that there is strong commitment” he said.
