Ghanaian reggae legend, Rocky Dawuni, has urged Ghanaian musicians to support, encourage and be united in the entertainment industry to make an impact in the country and other continents.
The famous reggae artiste nominated for the 2023 Grammy Awards in the Best Global Music Performance category suggested that the only way Ghanaian artistes could gain international recognition was to focus more on improving their music careers.
According to him, hatred, competition, fighting and not appreciating one’s piece of work will always bring division among Ghanaian musicians.
“We have managed to push our industry to a great level which used to be years back. Different artistes are doing different things, which has brought variety into the industry,” he noted in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report on Akoma FM.
He spoke on the need for artists to be united in the field:
“What we need to do now is to come together as a unit and work and support each other. See ourselves as one and work collectively. It is the only way we are enlisted among the great in the world. It can’t be possible if we pitch one artiste against the other”.
Rocky Dawuni has made Ghana proud due to his 3rd Grammy nomination at the 65th Grammy Awards. He has composed many reggae songs such as Beautiful People, In Ghana, African Reggae Fever, Gonna Take It Easy, Born to Win, Shine a Light, Difference and others. He started his music career in the early 19th century and still making waves in this contemporary world.
