Patapaa’s ‘Scopatumana’ featured in Dictionary.com, Urban Dictionary

Hiplife artist, Patapaa, appears to be gaining some prominence internationally following the inculcation of his rather popular ‘Scopatumana’ term in a song he was featured on late last year in databases of “Dictionary.com” and “Urban Dictionary”.

The raplines of the musician on Kawula Biov’s “Daavi ne Ba” song caught on with a number of music lovers in Ghana with some coining the #Scopatumana challenge and scores more partaking in it on social media.

So popular has the term been that US based Dictionary.com and Urban Dictionary have decided to add that to their English database, perhaps to solve the ‘mystery’ on what really Patapaa meant by the use of the word in the song.

The digital dictionaries posted on their twitter handles a link that explains the word “Scopatumana” with a caption “It resembles”.

The websites further attributes the origin of the word to Patapaa, a hiplife/hilife artist in Ghana.

Patapaa is known for couching catchy terms such as “Wob3te dwii” “la prasseur mesion’ among others in his songs.

“Sco pa tu mana” phrase inspired the “Scopatumana” challenge, where people post videos of themselves attempting to successfully mimic Patapaa and ‘flow’ like he did in the song, “Daavi ne ba”.

Patapaa became popular after a dance of his “One Corner” song went viral at the 2017 Agona Swedru Akwambo Festival.
