Angry NPP members storm party office, call for removal of Central Regional Chair
A group calling itself the Coalition of Concerned Members of NPP are calling for the head of the Central Regional party chairman, Robert Kutin.
The group is calling for Robert Kutin’s removal on grounds of borrowing from the National Investment Bank (NIB) and playing a key role in the removal of the First Vice-Chairman of the party, Horace Ekow Ewusi.
Some members of the group on Thursday thronged the NPP office at Asylum Down in Accra to demand the removal of Robert Kutin. The group is seeking the intervention of the President in the removal process which they claim will be in the ‘best interest of the party’.
Some demonstrators in an exclusive interview with The Ghana Report said their demands were plain and simple – ‘Remove Robert Kutin and re-instate Ekow Ewusi as First regional Vice Chairman’.
The demonstrators were seen holding placards with the inscription; ‘Kutin must go’, ‘We are disappointed in Kutin’, ‘Stop the illegal suspension’, ‘Kutin Step down’, ’23 nail for NPP’ among others.
They argue that the sitting Chairman has done little to help with the development of the region. The group is threatening more protests and a possible boycott of the 2020 elections if President Akufo-Addo does not heed to their concerns.
Ekow Ewusi was allegedly removed from his position as First Vice-Chair of the party on grounds of ignoring directives from the party’s hierarchy in the region and going ahead to respond to allegations of fraud, pocketing proceeds from illegal miners levelled against him by Edward Krahu, an aggrieved party member.
