Okraku Mantey Denies Salma Mumin’s GMB Claim

Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku Mantey, has denied claims by actress Salma Mumin that he treated her unfairly when she auctioned for Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) pageant years ago.

In an interview on UTV on Saturday, Salma allegedly said that her dreams to become Ghana’s Most Beautiful was truncated. This was partly because of how Mark treated her, but she added that she did not give up her dreams in showbiz.

She made the claim when UTV’s panel discussed a recent TV3 Mentor audition incident involving Ghanaian musician Abiana, who is a judge on the show and an up-and-coming artiste.

“Mark Okraku auditioned as my judge at Ghana’s Most Beautiful auditions. I have been to a lot of auditions in my life. The year that Chaanna won, I couldn’t make it to the semi-final auditions because I could not speak the local dialect, which is the Wale. But now I say proverbs in my local dialect. To go through what he did wasn’t so cool. I have had encounters with Mark Okraku as a judge. He was really arrogant towards me and I was so scared. So l went out of the audition room and people started asking about me, I kept going about him that there is this guy in there who is not nice at all,” she allegedly said.

However, in response, Mark Okraku Mantey has denied the accusation by Salma Mumin.

He told Peacefmonline.com that he was never a judge at the said pageant or any other pageant show.

“I have never been a judge on Ghana’s Most Beautiful before and I have never been a judge on any beauty pageant or any beauty pageant auditions,” Mark indicated.
