Injunction application filed against Ghana Premier League dismissed

The 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season is expected to return following a court’s dismissal of an interlocutory injunction filed on the league.

The presiding Judge, Barbara Tetteh-Charway, in her ruling, indicated that on the balance of hardship, the Ghana Football Association would suffer more than Ashantigold.

The club moved a motion on notice for leave to file a supplementary affidavit in support of their interlocutory injunction on the Betpawa Premier League.

The domestic top-flight has been on hold for four weeks after Ashantigold had served the Ghana FA with an injunction following their demotion to the Division Two League over match manipulation.

Meanwhile, Ashantigold has been fined an amount of GHC20,000 in damages.

The decision of the court means the suspended 2022/2023 betPawa Premier League could resume this weekend.
