Amasaman residents demonstrate over bad roads
Residents of Amasaman Okusubeade, Kojo Ashong, Oboom, and Three Junction hit the streets today, October 24, 2022, to demonstrate against bad roads.
The protest was dubbed: “Fix our roads demonstration.”
According to the residents, they have complained several times about the poor nature of the roads but to no avail.
Some said about four years ago, a contractor was engaged by authorities to fix the roads, but two years afterwards, the road became worst than.
According to them, the poor nature of the road has made it difficult to access healthcare, especially for pregnant women and people seeking emergency services.
Trotro drivers, taxi drivers, and okada riders halted operations and participated in the demonstration to emphasise the serious situation.
Consequently, people who needed public transport services to go to their various places of work had to find a different alternative or walk.
The police later picked up two suspects over the skirmishes.
They are currently in custody at the Amasaman Police station.
