A Circuit Court judge has issued a warning to the Consumer Protection Agency (CPA) boss Kofi Owusu Hene, also known as Kofi Kapito, for failing to appear before it.
Mr Hene had failed to make an appearance when his case was called earlier this week, and thus a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
He, however, presented himself today (October 20) at the Accra Circuit Court.
While rescinding the arrest warrant, Judge Christiana Cann warned the accused not to repeat his action again.
“I will rescind your bench warrant. But this should be your last time. Next time you won’t be lucky,” she stressed.
The CEO of CPA is standing trial for deprivation of the use of a property belonging to a deceased person, engaging in domestic violence with economic abuse, and causing unlawful damage.
He is alleged to have deprived his late brother’s wife of a house the couple had jointly acquired at Ogbojo.
Also, he reportedly threatened to dispose of the said property, which the late brother’s wife has an interest in.
Kofi Kapito has denied all the charges and is currently on bail.
While testifying, the wife of the deceased told the court how she and the late husband acquired the property in question.
The case continues on October 25, 2022.
