The body of a 55-year-old man has been retrieved from the receded flood at Tetegu, a community in the Weija-Gbawe Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
The deceased, Addi Kwashie, also known in the area as Chocholotso, was found in his room trapped between his bed and his sofa.
A sister to the deceased who was washing her clothes after the heavy five-day-downpour said she saw him lying there when she went to pick up her dress from the room.
“The last time I saw him was Monday (October 3, 2022); we were both sleeping there before I went to the market. He was my brother,” she spoke in the local dialect.
Meanwhile, schools in the Tetegu community have all been flooded with some compounds looking like a ‘river’ while hospitals have begun referring cases to other major hospitals.
There is currently a power outage in all communities affected by the flood.
Some ECG transformers have almost been submerged, which makes it impossible for power to be restored anytime soon.
Flood victims are expected to receive some relief items from today.
