Stand out and push through – Rudy Kwakye tells new talents

Media executive, Rudy Kwakye, has asked budding artistes to put themselves out there.

According to the founder of Muse Media Networks, the idea that there are kingmakers in the showbiz industry is not true.

He, therefore, charged every new artiste to put their best foot forward and be ready to seize every chance.

He stressed that the existence of supposed gatekeepers who make and unmake careers is non-existent.

He argues that once a talent market’s itself well enough, every outlet would line up to benefit from their association.

“I am here to tell you that is not true (the gatekeeping syndrome),” he stressed.

Rudy offered an example to illustrate why it is not his responsibility to pitch an artiste to industry stakeholders beyond the initial introduction.

He insists the work to be noticed depends on the skill and enterprise of the artiste.

“You want to talk to Richie? If you reach me, I will give you Richie’s number. I will probably call and say, hey, Richie, this person wants to talk to you. My call may get you five mins, but you have to sell yourself to him. Don’t make it my problem that I took you to Richie, so I have to deliver Richie,” Rudy said at the Showbiz Conference on TV3.
