A national service personnel arrested for issuing fake Ghana Education Service (GES) appointments and posting letters in the Northern Region has been remanded.
The accused, Ziblim Abdul Latif, who is undergoing his mandatory national service at the Yendi Senior High School (SHS), was remanded into prison custody by the Tamale Circuit Court.
He pleaded not guilty to charges of forgery of documents and signature and conspiracy to commit a crime.
Also, the court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of two other persons in connection with the same crime.
The case has been adjourned to 5 July 2022.
The suspect’s woes came to the limelight after the Northern Regional Director of Education, Dr. Peter Attafuah, reported to the police that the suspect had issued fake GES appointments and posting letters to over 100 unsuspecting job seekers.
He is said to have also taken huge sums of money from the unsuspecting victims and forged the signature of the Director-General and the Northern Regional Director of Education.
Dr. Attafuah further stated that two of the victims have already been to the police station to write statements confirming the suspect’s actions.
“Sometimes we hear some people gathering at the headquarters or even here making noise that they are teachers, and we are not paying them.”
“When you go through this line, and you think that you will receive a salary, you are deceiving yourself because all those that GES recruit, their names are [recorded elsewhere],” Mr. Attafuah stressed.
He cautioned the general public to be wary of fraudsters who like to take undue advantage of the vulnerable.
