Details have emerged concerning a planned demonstration with weapons by an armed group on June 4, the exact date an uprising occurred in Ghana in 1979.

A letter of notification to the police, available to The Ghana Report, details how the group planned to acquire arms for the three-day activity expected to culminate with a live address on the channels of the Ghana Broadcast Corporation (GBC).

However, the Ghana Police Service declined to approve the demonstration due to the risk of disrupting public order and safety.

Below is the full detail of the letter, which bears the names of Blessed Godsbrain Smart (Captain Smart), Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, lawyer and convener of the #FixTheCountry Movement Oliver Barker-Vormawor, and Benjamin Darko.

However, Captain Smart has distanced himself from the letter.

He suspects that the originator of the letter was Barker-Vormawor and indicated that the police should have arrested the individuals who submitted the letter.

Meanwhile, Barker-Vormawor is standing trial for coup charges and a road traffic offence.

He is currently on bail and expected to report to the police once a week.
