President Nana Akufo-Addo has entreated the public to have faith in his administration for a better Ghana.

The country has been facing economic challenges amidst high expenditure, ballooning debt, the rising cost of living, and other general hardships.

The government has responded with various cost-cutting measures, the introduction of a new levy to shore up revenue and other interventions.

Even though the country is not out of the woods yet, President Akufo-Addo has promised good times.

“I ask respectfully, all of you, to continue to have hope of great times soon for our country. The government is working hard to restore our nation back on the path of progress and prosperity, a path of which our nation was charting before the onset of COVID-19, whose negative consequences have been further exacerbated by the effects of the Russian invasion of Ukraine,” President Akufo-Addo said in his Easter message to Ghanaians on Thursday, 14 April 2022.

He continued: “All these difficulties notwithstanding, I am confident that with creativity, enterprise, hard work, perseverance and unity, we the Ghanaian people shall overcome for our future is bright”.

Turning his attention to Easter, which Christians celebrate to mark the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, President Akufo-Addo noted that the period “signifies the supreme sacrifice made for humanity by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ”.

“In the face of the current difficulties confronting our nation, I admonish all of us to be inspired and guided by this promise of salvation,” he noted.

He further encouraged Ghanaians not to lose the significance of the celebrations and emulate the character of Jesus.

With a high rate of accidents usually recorded during the period and COVID-19 still lurking, President Akufo-Addo highlighted the need to be cautious.

“I appeal to each and every one of you, notwithstanding the lifting of restrictions and the good news about infections, to continue to live responsibly and safely, so we can all play our part in building mother Ghana. In this season, let us drive carefully on the roads,” he admonished.
