Asante Kotoko reveal why Abalora and six others could not travel for Dubai tour
Asante Kotoko have revealed why seven players of the club could not make the trip to Dubai for the pre-season tour.
The team on Thursday, October 7th 2021, left Ghana to begin a pre-season tour in the United Arab Emirate with a 25 man squad that did not include first choice goalkeeper Razak Abalora and six others.
The six are Solomon Sarfo Taylor, Richmond Lamptey, Joseph Amoako, Andy Kumi Francis, Samuel Boateng and Augustine Agyapong.
According to the Porcupine Warriors, the above-mentioned players were left out due to ‘visa hitches’.
“Players Lamptey, Agyapong, Abalora, Amoako, Kumi, Taylor and Boateng couldn’t travel with the team to Dubai yesterday due to some visa hitches,” Kotoko wrote on their Twitter.
The club said efforts are being made to rectify the issues so they can join their colleagues in the coming days.
The last time the Kumasi based club travelled abroad for pre-season was in 2007 and they won the Ghana Premier League title.
The trip forms part of the club’s preparation towards the start of the new season on October 29, 2021.
Asante Kotoko will kick off their campaign against Dreams FC at the Theatre of Dreams in Dewu.
