“The team has quality but they need to show it” – Tony Baffoe on Black Stars
Former Ghana defender, Anthony Baffoe believes the current Black Stars team has enough quality to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, but that quality must come to the fore if they are to book a spot to Qatar next year.
Ghana face Ethiopia and South Africa in two world cup qualifiers this month with the first game scheduled to come off tomorrow against the Ethiopians at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The former CAF deputy General Secretary says good team spirit will be needed in camp if they are to perform well.
“Having a good scouting team, observing the opponents and wherever you are and creating a good team spirit,”
“This is essential because you can have eleven Messi’s, eleven Cristiano Ronaldo’s or eleven Abedi Pele’s but that doesn’t mean you will have success,” the former Black Stars player said.
“You need to create a good team spirit, it’s not only the players but from the officials.
“We have potential in Ghana but now it’s up to us to show it on the playing field,” he added.
The Black Stars will begin their qualifying campaign later today against Ethiopia at the Cape Coast Stadium before traveling to Johannesburg on September 6 to face South Africa.
Ghana failed to qualify for the 2018 edition of the World Cup in Russia and will be looking to book her place in the 2022 edition in Qatar.
