Supreme Court Justice Marful-Sau Dies At 64

Justice Samuel Marful-Sau, a justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana has passed away.

The 64-year-old was famously known as one of the seven justices of the Supreme Court that presided over the 2020 Election Petition brought before the court by former President John Dramani Mahama.

Apart from being a Justice of the apex court, Justice Marful-Sau was also the Director of the Judicial Training Institute (JTI) and a lecturer in Civil Procedure at the Ghana School of Law.

He was appointed by President Nana Akufo-Addo in 2018, together with three other judges — Justices Agnes Dodzie, Professor Nii Ashie Kotey and Nene Amegatcher.

Marful-Sau was admitted to practice in Ghana as a Barrister-at-Law and Solicitor in 1984 and served briefly as a prosecutor in the office of the Special Public Prosecutor from August 1984 to July 1986.

In 2002, he was appointed a Justice of the High Court and was elevated four years later to the Court of Appeal where he served until he was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2018.
