Vetting of new regions’ minsters begins today

The Appointments Committee of Parliament will later Thursday begin vetting of nominees for various ministerial roles related to the new regions.

The four nominees expected to face the committee today are Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, Minister Designate for the Western Region; Solomon Boar, Minister Designate for the North East Region; Kofi Amoakohene, Minister designate for Bono East and Kingsley Aboagye-Gyedu, Minister Designate for the Western North Region.

They were among the persons President Nana Akufo-Addo nominated to occupy various ministerial and deputy ministerial positions in the newly created regions after he presented the official Constitutional Instrument for the creation of the new regions.

The Western Regional Minister, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie has been replaced with Deputy Aviation Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah.

Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sunyani, Evelyn Richardson has been named Minister for the Bono Region.

Member of Parliament for Atebubu, Kofi Amoakohene has been nominated as the Minister for the Bono East Region while Kwasi Owusu Yeboah is Minister for the Oti Region.

Also Salaga South MP, Salifu Braimah who has been nominated as Minister for the Savannah Region.

Mr. Samuel Yeyu Tika                        -Deputy Minister, Savannah Region

Mr. Tahiru Tia Ahmed                       -Deputy Minister, North East Region

John Benam                                       -Deputy Minister, Northern Region

Alex Tetteh, MP                                -Deputy Minister, Western North Region

Mr. Johnson Avuletey                      -Deputy Minister, Volta Region
