Twists in investigations as another policewoman is found dead in hotel room

A policewoman who is said to have checked into a hotel near Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region on Saturday, August 7, was later found dead in her room.

The suspected murder of police Lance Corporal Sarah Adjei is producing twists as police say they have two suspects in custody, including her boyfriend, and the man who answered the dead woman’s phone.

The answerer on Lance Corporal Adjei’s phone is believed to be a male who insisted that the deceased was indebted to him. This individual may also be in possession of a Hyundai Elantra with registration number GE 331-19, belonging to Timothy Dampare, the policewoman’s boyfriend.

Meanwhile, Dampare, 50,  and Richard Nimo, 30, manager of the Misiho Hotel where Sarah Adjei’s body was discovered in a pool of blood with stab wounds, are under arrest.

A statement issued by the police chronicled the events of the case.

Lance Corporal Adjei left home at Nkawkaw on Saturday, August 7. Her boyfriend Dampare, is said to have been in her apartment when Adjei drove away in a Hyundai Elantra car with registration number GE 331-19, which belonged Dampare.

The policewoman went to the aforementioned hotel near Nkawkaw at around 12:00 pm for a short stay.

At 7 pm on the same day, the hotel manager,  Nimo, decided to check on the deceased when he noticed there was no activity in the room. On entering the room, he found the deceased lying on the floor. The hotel manager then reported the incident to the police, who on arrival, identified the deceased as a staff of the Nkawkaw Divisional Police Command.

The police team then visited the home of the deceased and noticed the apartment has been locked with Timothy Dampare in it.

Two notes were found during police investigations. One was found at the scene of the alleged murder and the other on the balcony of the house of the deceased.

One of the note reads: “Dear Mr Timothy Dampare I told you I owe people money and you decided to help me and you have been with me in my house for one week now and you refused to help me so if anything happen, you have cause [sic] it.”

The police called the deceased’s mobile number and an unknown male voice answered and informed the police that the deceased owes him an amount of GH¢: 28,000. As a result, he seized  the Hyundai Elantra car.

The police are tracking the whereabouts of the Hyundai Elantra vehicle used by the deceased and her mobile phone and apprehend the suspect. Law officers are are appealing to members of the public to provide vital information that might help to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of the policewoman.

Meanwhile, the police say the Director-General in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, COP Ken Yeboah is leading a technical team of Crime Scene managers and the Homicide Unit to unravel the death of the Policewoman.

Second policewoman in a week

On August 2, Constable Sandra Asiedu was found dead at her home at Damongo in the Savannah Region. The deceased was found in a pool of blood with wounds believed to be from knife stabbings.

The police, in a statement, hours after the incident, announced that they are on a manhunt for the late policewoman’s boyfriend, declared the main suspect.

Meanwhile, a three-member Crime Scene Investigation team was today dispatched by the Acting IGP, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, to Damongo to collect evidence leading to the arrest of the suspect.

An amount of GHC10,000 will be given as a reward to any person, other than a law enforcement officer, who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who killed Constable Asiedu.

The amount was pledged by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Samuel Abu Jinapor who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area.
