Hasaacas Ladies win WAFU Zone B tournament
Hasaacas Ladies have been crowned champions of the maiden edition of the WAFU Zone B Cup at the Stade Champroux in Abidjan on Thursday.
The Ghanaian side secured a 3-1 victory over their Nigerian counterpart Rivers Angel to lift the giant trophy.
The win gave the Ladies an act of sweet revenge over the Nigerians, having lost to the same side in their opening game of the tournament.
Also, the victory means coach Yusif Basigi’s side have achieved an unprecedented treble this season after winning the Ghana Women’s Premier League and the FA Cup earlier before travelling to Ivory Coast for the tournament.
The tournament was used as a qualification round for the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League to be hosted in Egypt.
Irrespective of the outcome in the finals, both Hasaacas Ladies and Rivers Angels have qualified for the tournament in Egypt.
