CAF Women’s CL: Hasaacas Ladies beat Burkinabe side USFA to reach final
Hasaacas Ladies have secured a place in the final of the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifying tournament after a deserving 2-0 win over Union Sportive Des Forces Armees of Burkina Faso.
The two goals scored in each half of the game by Veronica Appiah and Doris Boaduwaa ensured victory for the Ghanaian champions in the semis of the ongoing WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League qualifiers at Stade Champroux in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
The Hasmal Ladies looked very determined to carry the day by creating chances in the early part of the game, an effort which saw them hitting the bar twice even before the 44th-minute opener.
Lanky attacker Veronica Appiah jumped higher ahead of USFA defenders to connect a cross delivered by Boaduwaa on the stroke of halftime to open the floodgate.
Back from the break, Hasaacas Ladies continued to dominate on play and were rewarded with the second goal to seal victory when Doris Boaduwaa connected a brilliant pass from Appiah just before the half-hour of the break game.
Hasaacas will face Nigeria Champions, Rivers Angels FC, in the finals after the Nigerian champions thrashed Amis du Monde of Togo 5-1 in the other semi-final clash.
A place in the final also means coach Yusif Bassigi’s side have secured a ticket to the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League, joining qualified teams Wadi Degla FC (Egypt), ASFAR (Morocco), AS Mandé (Mali), and Rivers Angels (Nigeria).
The Inaugurates TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League will take place later this year in Egypt.
