CAF announces date for AFCON 2022 draw

The Black Stars of Ghana will know their foes for next year’s rescheduled Africa Cup of Nations on August 17, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced.

The football governing body reached out to football associations across Africa, inviting them for the draw on the new date.

The draw was previously scheduled for June 25 but had to be postponed due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.

Also, the tournament which will be hosted by Cameroon was earlier scheduled for January and February 2021.

However, it was postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which prevented qualifiers from taking place.

A total of 24 teams including host Cameroon will take part in the tournament billed for next year from 9 January to 6 February 2022.
