Abdul Ganiyu and four other players leaving Asante Kotoko
Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko will be hit with another players exodus as five key players will be leaving the club following the expiration of their contracts.
Felix Annan
Captain Felix Annan is on his way out of the Kumasi based club after a ten-year stay as his contract will be expiring after the season.
Annan joined Asante Kotoko from fellow Premier League side West African Football Academy in 2011 but was later loaned back to the Sogakope based outfit and Real Tamale United.
He returned to the Ghanaian giants after a successful loan spell and rose to become the club’s no.1 choice before losing his place to Kwame Baah and Razak Abalora.
Annan was named the club’s captain in 2018 following the exit of Amos Frimpong.
He was member of the Black Stars team that represented Ghana at the 2019 AFCON tournament in Egypt.
Naby Keita
The Guinea international will be leaving Asante Kotoko following his uninspiring performance at the club since his acquisition in October 2018.
Naby Keita has been struggling for a place in the team under the club’s head coach Mariano Barreto and the other coaches.
The club have decided to offload the 27-year-old lanky striker after their 2020/21 season’s campaign.
Wahab Adams
Asante Kotoko have refused to offer a fresh contract to the stalwart centre-back as his current contract with the club expires in December.
Adams is one of the players at the club who was missed out in most match-day squad list will not be considered to be part of Asante Kotoko’s campaign next season.
He joined Asante Kotoko on a free transfer from Aduana Stars in 2017.
Augustine Okrah
Okrah who had an incredible campaign earlier this season has decided not to extend his stay at the club after this term.
His contract with Asante Kotoko will be expiring in December.
Ismail Abdul Ganiyu
One of Asante Kotoko’s dependable stoppers, Ismail Abdul Ganiyu will become free player at the end of this month.
Abdul Ganiyu and his representative have kicked against the club’s contract extension offer following amid the interest of three European clubs.
He is touted as one of the highly-rated guardsmen in the local scene. His stellar performance in the Ghana Premier League has earned him a place in the senior national team of Ghana.
