I am honored – Kofi Jamar on 7 VGMA nominations

Hip hop artiste, Kofi Jamar, is confident of winning the Most Popular Song of the Year at the 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

The artiste, born Derrick Osei Kuffour Prempeh, bagged seven nominations at this year’s VGMA awards scheduled for June 25 and June 26.

The inspiring Kumasi rapper took a gigantic leap from one nomination last year.

“It’s a great feeling because last year I came in as an unsung artiste. This year, I grabbed seven nominations and sharing the same space with my fellow Kumasi artistes. I think this is the time that Kumasi got the chance to break through. And I am proud to be part of the squad representing out here.”

Explaining how his nomination has made him his mother’s pride, the rapper said “She is always happy and I can tell that she is really proud of what I have been able to accomplish. It gives me the fulfilment that I have been the pride of my family. And the pride of my people too,” he said in an interview on TV3.

Kofi Jamar is part of the Kumasi revolution that introduced the Kumerican movement and subsequently the Asakaa (drill music).
