Winners of 1st edition of EPCG Good Shepherd Youth Ministry essay writing competition awarded
The Youth Ministry of the EPCG Good Shepherd congregation, Lashibi, has awarded three of its members from the Sunday School for emerging the best in a maiden essay writing competition.
The winners were awarded cash prizes on April 11, 2021.
The ministry as part of measures to inculcate Christian values and sharpen the writing skills of its Sunday School members initiated an essay writing competition themed “The essence of Easter in a world plundered by a pandemic”.
Eight young people participated in the competition, with only three participants shortlisted for the final stage.
“The Challenge came in four stages – submission of articles, screening and selection of the best three articles, vetting of the best three article writers and presentation of prizes to winners”
“At the end of the first stage, eight children submitted their articles but only three made it to the final stage and every child was given a prize for participating in the challenge” President of the Youth Ministry, Raymond Nuworkpor noted.
Selorm Korbla Kudomor emerged as the winner and received a cash prize of GHC1,000.
Setri Dzakuma was 1st runner up and was awarded a GHC 500.00 cash prize and Anabel Etornam Awutey, 2nd runner received GHC300.000.
“This was to help young people to appreciate the significance of Christian festivals, cultivates the culture of writing and build their capacity in researching on Christian topics” Mr. Nuworkpor opined.
According to him, the leadership of the Youth Ministry intends on making the essay writing an annual affair.

Wonderful initiative for the Youth, Church and the Nation. I’m really proud for the confidence to participate in such an intellectual exercise that is very relevant at this time.
