GPL: Kotoko moves to top 4 with 1-0 win over Ebusua Dwarfs
Asante Kotoko moves to the third position of the ongoing 2020/21 Premier League following a 1-0 win over Ebusua Dwarfs in an outstanding fixture from Matchday 7.
A second-half goal by Christopher Nettey was enough to seal the win for the Porcupine Warriors after a tight contest as both sides failed to produce any major goal-scoring opportunities in the first half.
Kotoko had a penalty appeal waved away by the referee after it appeared Fabio Gama had been fouled in the box on the stroke of halftime.
The second half was no different from the first, with Kotoko going all out for the win.
Kotoko finally found the back of the net in the 70th minute after an effective play by their two fullbacks Christopher Nettey and Patrick Asmah.
The win extends Kotoko’s unbeaten run in the league under interim coach Johnson Smith to five games.
Kotoko has established itself as title contenders with their current position on the log, the team is just a point below the current league leaders Karela United.
Dwarfs remain 11th on the log following the defeat.
