COVID_19: Wisconsin University threatens to sue Daily Post over speculative article

The management of Wisconsin University has debunked reports of ‘looming outbreak’ of COVID-19 cases on its Kumasi and Accra campuses.

“The University as part of the measures in ensuring the wearing of face mask has distributed face masks to all staff members and requested unit heads to ensure all staff members wear them at all times” a statement issued by the university’s registrar said.

In a story published by Daily Post, the newspaper claimed the university had disregarded the COVID-19 protocols.

According to the paper, interactions with students revealed that they (students) had complained about the situation to school authorities but little has been done about it.

But the university shot down the claim, insisting that it followed every laid down protocol.

The University has, therefore, threatened to take legal action against the paper.

It said its management was investigating the source of what it described as a false DAILY POST newspaper report.

It further described the reportage as mischievous and misleading and pledged to update the public in due course.”
