GPL Week 8: Asante Kotoko beat Liberty Professionals in Accra

Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC defeated Dansoman Liberty Professionals FC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday afternoon in the week eight clash of the ongoing 2020/2021 Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors started the game like a wounded Lions firing from all cylinders in the opening exchanges of the match as they totally outplayed their opponents.

Ten minutes into the game, former Nkoranza Warriors marksman Kwame Opoku opened the scoring for the Reds.

After the goal, the Porcupine Warriors did not take their leg off the paddle and continued pushing hard for their second goal but defender Christopher Nettey fluffed his shot on three separate occasions.

Nine minutes after the first goal, Brazilian import, Fabio Gama dazzled at the right side of the attack with the ball and his ball found the chest of Opoku who outwitted two defenders to lob the ball over the goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation to make it 2-0 to Kotoko.

With no goals in the second half, Asante Kotoko has cruised to a 2-0 win to ensure they merit the maximum points at the end of the 90 minutes.

Courtesy of the win, Asante Kotoko has now climbed to 6th on the standings of the Ghana Premier League.
