Satellites coach hints of beefing up squad before AFCON

The head coach of Ghana’s under 20 team, Karim Zito, has hinted at a squad beef up ahead of the upcoming AFCON to be held in Mauritania.

According to him, the decision has been necessitated by the team’s scoring ability after netting just a goal on their journey to the finals of the competition.

The Satellites scored only one goal in the entire tournament against Nigeria which also happened to be their only win, apart from their semi-final penalty win against Niger.

In a pre-match presser ahead of the WAFU B finals with Burkina Faso, coach Zito was full of praise for the team following their qualification to the 2021 AFCON and an opportunity to lift the trophy as they made it to the finals.

With Ghana conceding only a goal against Ivory Coast ahead of the Saturday finals, the coach said the team’s defence is okay but he was worried about the team’s attack.

He bemoaned the numerous missed chances during the tournament and explained that it would be important to add more bite to the attack with extra legs after the tournament.

The Black Satellites on Tuesday beat their Nigerien counterpart in a 5 – 3 penalty shoot out after a cagey 120 minutes of action ended in a draw at the Charles de Gaulle stadium in Porto-Novo.

Ghana will face Burkina Faso in the finals of the WAFU U-20 Championships tomorrow Saturday at 3:00 GMT.
