I’m happy Akufo-Addo won – Akua Donkor
The 2020 flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party, Akua Donkor, has expressed her satisfaction with the presidential results from the just-ended polls.
President Akufo-Addo was declared winner of the December 2020, elections.
Reacting to the declaration by the Electoral Commission (EC), Madam Akua Donkor, who was seen jubilating in Akufo-Addo’s Nima residence said “I thank God. I’m elated. He is a man of peace,” she said in a local language, Twi.
Ghana went to the polls on Monday, December 7, 2020, to elect parliamentarians and a President.
In all, over 17 million eligible voters were expected to cast their ballot.
Out of this, the EC Boss, Jean Mensa disclosed that over 13 million voters participated in the polls.
The President-elect, Akufo-Addo beat his political rival, John Mahama of the largest opposition party NDC after he polled over 6.7 million votes.
His figure represents 51.59 per cent of the total valid votes cast.
The flagbearer of the NDC, John Mahama, also polled a little over 6.2 million votes, representing 47.36 per cent.
Akufo-Addo beat his opponent with a difference of 515,524 votes.
