A 7-year-old boy identified as Blessing Yemo Twotwoo has been electrocuted at Gyedi-Kyekyewere, a suburb of Bibiani in the Western North region.

Information gathered indicates that Blessing was electrocuted when he was playing with his brother and friends.

His elder sister, Jackline Mensa, was cooking cassava when she received a distress call from the brother’s playmates.

When she rushed to the scene, she found Blessing struggling to breathe.

Despite their efforts to get him to the hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The mother, Comfort Akua Nyamekye, stated that she was shocked to hear about the sudden demise of her last child, and the pain had become unbearable.

This incident comes after a 37-year-old onion seller died at Assin Dansame in the Assin North District of the Central Region.

The deceased, Maame B, was reported to have accidentally touched a live electricity cable while attempting to lift the cable after realizing it had fallen.

The three children of the deceased came to the house after playing outside, only to meet the lifeless body of their mother on the floor.

But the children, out of fear they could also be electrocuted, could not touch their mother, who was lying on the ground in a supine position.

They raised an alarm, after which neighbours rushed to the scene to see the lifeless body.

Police officers from the Assin North District Police Command conveyed the body to the Assin Fosu Hospital mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
