7 Severely injured in fight over woman at a wake keeping

It is reported that seven persons sustained various degrees of injury in a machete fight at Twifo Abodom in the Central Region after a snitch on a man who allegedly danced with the girlfriend of another man at a funeral wake-keeping.

The fight involved the youth of Twifo Abodom and their counterparts from Wassa Hemanso in the Wassa East District of the Western Region.

A strong argument was said to have ensued between the two youth groups when the Twifo Abodom Youths attended a wake-keeping at Wassa Hemanso.

During the event where some had taken to the dancing floor to dance, a young man from Wassa Hemanso sprung from nowhere and slapped a boy from Twifo Abodom who was dancing with his girlfriend.

The victim went back to Twifo Abodom to report the assault on him to the Youth in his town, which got them infuriated.

On Sunday, 2nd April 2023 the Youth numbering about twenty from Abodom, laid ambush on the Youth of Wassa Hemanso which resulted in a fight involving the use of machetes, sticks, and stones.

Youth from both sides got injured in the fierce altercation, mostly by the machetes. They were rushed to the Twifo Ateiku Health Centre for treatment.

The Twifo Atti-Morkwa District police command is reported to have intervened to restore peace between the two communities. The police have been investigating the circumstances that led to the sour encounter and dragging those involved before the law.
