7 officers in isolation as Ankaful prison records first COVID-19 case
Seven officers in the Ankaful Maximum Security prison have been isolated after coming into contact with an inmate who tested positive for COVID-19.
The inmate arrived at the prison on May 5, 2020 after being slapped with a 30-year jail term.
He, however, tested positive for the virus five days into his jail term. He tested positive on May 10, 2020.
JoyNews reported that the Ankaful prison, on Monday, will begin mass testing for all prison officers and inmates.
The reported case follows public outcry for Ghana’s prisons to be decongested in the wake of the deadly pandemic.
Visitors have been directed not to come to the prison since Ghana recorded its first case on March 12, 2020.
