6 Indians, 2 Chinese arrested for engaging in illegal mining

Eight foreign nationals have been arrested by the Western Forward Operating Base of Operation Vanguard for allegedly engaging in illegal mining.

The eight consist of six (6) Indians and two (2) Chinese nationals.

The suspects were picked up at Kutu Krom and Nsuta all in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality.

According to Officer Commanding (OC) and team leader, Major W Opoku, the six (6) Indians were all arrested at Kutu Krom while the two Chinese were nabbed at Nsuta.

All eight suspects are currently in the custody of the Aboso Police station assisting with investigations.

They are however expected to be transferred to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM) in Accra for further action.
