The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tatale Sanguli constituency of the Northern Region has suspended 58 members for allegedly failing to support the party’s official candidate in the recently concluded elections.

In a letter signed by the constituency chairman and addressed to the party’s national and regional executives, it was alleged that the suspended members worked against the NPP candidate, an act deemed a violation of the party’s constitution.

One of the suspended members, Napare Prosper, a former constituency communication officer, has strongly denied the accusations.

Consequently, he is demanding evidence and a fair hearing, giving the constituency chairman a 24-hour ultimatum to substantiate the claims.

“I have seen the letter on social media saying that I have been suspended for not supporting the MP, but I want to state on record that I did not campaign against the duly confirmed candidate,” Prosper stated.

He added, “I did not in any way campaign against the candidate, and I did not breach any of the party’s constitution. They should give us a fair hearing.”

The development has sparked discussions about internal party discipline and the enforcement of rules, with the affected members calling for transparency and fairness in addressing the allegations.
