A 55-year-old man has been found dead on a railway line at Twifu Praso in the Central Region.
Information gathered indicates that the man is a popular plastic waste collector in the vicinity.
He was reportedly seen on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, conducting his usual duties, walking through the heavy rains for several hours.
However, he was found dead on Wednesday evening, around 6:00 PM.
There were no signs of assault or attack on his body, leaving residents to believe that the man died due to cold weather triggered by the rains.
He had his tools and equipment for collecting the plastic waste beside him.
It also emerged that he was found unconscious in front of some kiosks on Tuesday evening.
But he rejected food some youths offered him after he gained consciousness.
Police were informed and, together with environmental health officers in Twifo Praso, conveyed the body to the Twifo Praso Government Hospital mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
Cases of dead bodies being discovered in suspicious circumstances have become rampant.
It was reported on July 6 that the body of an unidentified man with his head missing had been found in a bush at Ntewusae, a farming community in the Krachi West Municipality of the Oti Region.
The man was found naked in a supine position, feeding the rumour of ritual murder.
The discovery of the corpse was said to have angered community members, stakeholders, and the assemblyman of the electoral area.
