50-year-old man killed in gas explosion incident at Suame

A cylinder explosion at Suame Magazine in the Ashanti Region has resulted in the death of a 50-year-old carbide welder, identified as Kwabena Afriyie.

The incident happened on Monday, March 25, 2024, at about 4:00 pm.

Information gathered indicates that Kwabena Afriyie was working on a car when the liquid oxygen cylinder exploded, and immediately ripped his body apart, leading to his death.

An eyewitness, Mr. Saani Abubarkar, disclosed that the deceased died instantly after the incident.

He revealed that the deceased had his body mutilated after the explosion.

The mutilated body parts have been conveyed to the morgue by the police.

A similar incident happened sometime in January 2017 in the Ashanti Region.

A 50-year-old bachelor died at Obuasi in the Ashanti Region after his gas cylinder exploded while cooking supper.

The deceased, Kofi Amankwaah, according to eyewitnesses, was trapped in his kitchen by the flame until fire service personnel arrived at the scene.
